Mister Miracle v1 #3, 1971 - Doctor Bedlam debuts as Mister Miracle's newest foe. Jack Kirby's third issue is merely satisfactory, diminished by Vince Colletta's unimpressive inks. Why the title character is completely white on the cover is a mystery (the same scene in the story has him in full color). The most visually compelling images occur on page 9, as Mister Miracle and his companion Oberon fend off an attack of nightmarish proportions. Kirby's talent for strange monstrous forms seems limitless in this case. This is number 3 of 18 Mister Miracle issues by Kirby. /// key 1st appearance Doctor Bedlam / Kirby gallery
