Tomahawk #131 - Joe Kubert art & cover, Frank Frazetta reprint + 1st Hawk

Joe Kubert

(Son of) Tomahawk v1 #131, 1971 - To appeal to teen readers, the series moves the timeline further ahead to introduce Hawk Haukins. The son of Tom Hawk, he shares the same frontier skills and sense of justice. While the stories begin to revolve around his exploits, his father is often involved. Joe Kubert draws a typically engaging cover, one among many he did for this series. He also does fine job on the illustrations for a text story and a promo for next issue's Firehair feature. Unlike most artists, Kubert maintains a high level of detail despite the short page counts. As a bonus, this issue also contains a Frank Frazetta reprint from Jimmy Wakely #7. Other artists in this comic include Frank Thorne. This is 1 of 10 Tomahawk issues by Kubert. /// key 1st appearance1st cover Hawk
