Journey into Mystery v1 #70, 1961 - Originally from outer space, a humanoid blob of sand reawakens to threaten the Earth? Why not. Jack Kirby's story is longer than his usual fare on the series, but shows only minimal artistic effort (aside from the opening splash shown below). Much better is
Steve Ditko's tale of an ancient heroic statue suddenly come to life. Nicely drawn and detailed, this story opens with a vivid splash page. This story was later reprinted in
Kull #12. Other artists in this silver age comic include Paul Reinman. This is 21 of 76
