Hollywood Confessions #1 - Joe Kubert art & cover + 1st issue

Joe Kubert
Hollywood Confessions v1 #1, 1949 - Just past his celebrity-themed cover, Joe Kubert contributes a trio of stories for this premiere issue. The artist inks two different pencilers, respectively, in "Too Ugly to Love" and "I Loved and Lost". While some panels are definitely enhanced, the overall results are lackluster. Perhaps not surprisingly, "Love Came Second" is the most polished artistically, benefitting from Kubert inking his own pencils. Both pacing and layout are carefully planned (see interior page below). The first two stories in this issue were later reprinted in Diary Secrets #20, the third story was reprinted in Pictorial Romances #11. This is 1 of 2 Hollywood Confessions issues by Kubert. /// key 1st issue
